A film camera app for iPhone · Coming soon

Twelve shots. No retakes. See them tomorrow.

  • From the RAW
  • No AI
  • 12 shots a roll

Load a film and shoot a roll of twelve. Finish it and the lab takes it. About eight hours later it comes back developed from your iPhone’s RAW, like real film.

You’re in

Needs iOS 18 or later and the free TestFlight app. Invites go out in batches.

One email when it’s out. Nothing else.

Why a roll of twelve

Your phone lets you shoot forever. So nothing feels like a shot.

A gravel path curving through an autumn wood, yellow leaves overhead and brown leaves on the ground, shot on Orotone 200.

Take 12 gives you twelve frames, one lens and no retakes.

A wet city crossing at night, shop windows and street lamps glowing on the road, shot on Halo 800.

Then you wait. The roll comes back from the lab the way film does.

Shot in Take 12 on an iPhone and developed by the app.

A low autumn sun flaring through the trees over a park lawn, people sitting on the grass in silhouette, shot on Snapdragon 100.

How a roll works

  1. Pick a camera

Each one has a single fixed lens and its own viewfinder. Choose one, then raise it to your eye.

The app's home screen: The Silver Fox, 40mm f/1.7, frame 1 of 12, Bloom 400 loaded.
  2. Load a film

Flick a film into the back. It stays in until the roll is done.

  3. Shoot twelve

Every press takes a frame and the counter moves on. No retakes, and nothing to look at yet.

  4. Wait for the lab

Finish the roll and the lab takes it. About eight hours later your prints are back, and your phone tells you.

09The films

Eight films, made from the RAW.

Each one has its own colour, grain and glow. No AI, and no filters to fiddle with.

  • Orotone 200

Golden light, rich reds, soft blacks.

  • Bloom 400

The portrait film. Gentle skin, pale skies.

  • Halo 800

    Cinema colour, made for night.

  • Marquee 800

Moody and matte, warm with red.

  • Mirage 1600

    Inky blacks and amber lamps.

  • Snapdragon 100

    Bold, cross-processed colour.

  • Noir 400

Black and white, with strong grain.

  • Veridis 400

Cool and clean, with true greens.

10The cameras

Meet four of the cameras.

  • The Silver Fox

    40MM F/1.7

A rangefinder with a fast lens that keeps going after sunset.

  • Encore

    24MM F/3.5

Slim titanium. Slide the cover and the lens steps out.

  • Skipping Stone

    35MM F/2.8

A glossy pocket compact, all curves. Swing the cover open.

  • Point Blank

    38MM F/2.8

The early point-and-shoot. It focuses itself, and the flash pops up.

  • More to find in the lab

It finds a new camera as you finish rolls.
